Interactive Morning Prayer on Zoom

St Clement’s Episcopal Church in Rancho Cordova, California hosts Morning Prayer on Zoom Monday-Friday, 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. For more than five years, clergy and lay participants from Episcopal churches across California, Oregon, and Washington have met online. Some have worshipped together in person; others only virtually. Together, we have formed a prayerful, supportive, and engaged community.

Each day, a volunteer leader and scripture reader guide the group using the Book of Common Prayer Morning Prayer service (Rite I on Mondays; Rite II Tuesday-Friday). Readings follow the Daily Office lectionary (psalm, Old Testament, New Testament, and Gospel). The leader offers a brief overview and facilitates discussion of key themes, strengthening the relationships that sustain our shared practice.

Before and after the readings, the leader invites volunteers to read prayers, canticles, psalms, and collects. Leaders choose the selections each day, adding variety and a personal touch.

Over time, we’ve learned to navigate the prayer book, grown in love for the canticles, and deepened our appreciation of Scripture and the Psalms. We end with prayers and intercessions for those in need.
